"Hi, Lancerlord. This is Michael from XXXX. Please call me at 9STUVWXYZ I like to ask about the LCD monitors that you purchased from us."
The message lasted 10-15 seconds. The caller's speech had clarity but he was talking too fast. I had to play the message 3 times to jot down his number.
Some more our low tech phone message system cannot interrupt one. I had to wait for the sentence to finish before I could access the menu.
"You have messages in your voicebox. Please enter you pin. Or else press asterisk to start dialling."
After entering pin,
"You have 1 message in your voicebox. To listen to your message, press 1. To delete the message, press 2. To skip to the next message, press 3. To end and return to normal dialling mode, press 9."
Maybe I should customise my greeting message to warn all callers to speak slowly after the beep.
have you heard Kimi Raikkonen speak? "The car da da ta tah ga la blah na ya ta brake and then..." basically the whole thing goes on in this fashion.
ReplyDeleteSometimes the people at planet F1 actually write things like 'rest is unintelligible' in his interview transcripts. Which I think is hilarious. I will write about this one day when I'm free.

He speaks that way. Mumbles most of the time. Imagine race technicians talking to him over the radio.
ReplyDeleteI dont use voicemail.
ReplyDeleteIt's just wrong to make me press buttons while pressing the phone against my face.
Caleb, I was somewhere eating snake, so I was not able to answer the call. No choice. Got message, must listen.
ReplyDelete"Please speak slowly after the beep!" For all you know, you may get some idiots doing this: "This...is....Mic-...hael ...from....blah....blah." By the time you retrieve the message, it may already be day-break.
ReplyDeleteHa ha! Ya hor, Anna.
ReplyDeleteBackfired!
maybe he's speaking fast because he's afraid there's some kind of time limit.
ReplyDeletei bet that accounts for all those times last year his engine caught fire. he probably just couldnt convey the problem back to the pitwall before the flames engulfed him.
ReplyDeletefor Sato.. now I'll have to imagine some possible reasons for the fiery ends to all his engines. heh
