Drivers on the road practise win-win situation.
Red car wants to filter right to go to the first lane. Blue car signals left and wants to filter left to exit the expressway but red car does not give way.
There are many cars in front of the blue car. So it is impossible for the red car to filter right even if it overtakes the blue car. Furthermore there are plenty of space behind the blue car for red car to filter right.
Blue car driver prefers the red car to slow down to let him filter left. By doing so, the red car can then filter right.
Unfortunately the blue car is me. I had to slow down to let the red car slot in front of me and the car in front. Well, this is still a win-win situation. Both drivers win in the end, depends on who win first. This is a "You Win First and I Win Later" situation. And unfortunately it is not the first time I encounter this type of 'tight' situation.
Given the circumstances and the road condition...the red car should give way...PERIOD!
ReplyDeleteWhat an asshat...!
Only in countries like Australia where there is better traffic etiquette, you'll see the red car let the blue car out first. I miss the traffic friendliness there.
ReplyDeleteHmmm..... it really depends on the type of car you drive.
ReplyDeleteIf the red car is a more expensive model than mine, den I will just step on the acceralator, cut in front of it. It works all the time.
I wanna be a nice driver too, but you just will lose out......
agentx: I noticed that the more I drive in Singapore, the more asshat I can become too. :)
ReplyDeletejayaxe: And in those countries, the car horn can be seldom heard. Unlike here, a little bit, horn.
ghost: Cannot leh. The red car keeps closing the gap to let me cut in front.
what i learnt abt driving in sg is, give way, even though u dun have to...
ReplyDeleteit's a good way to cultivate patience!
i'm a little bit better, usually i dun mind giving way as long as the other party signals his/her intention..never signal i sure blast stebel magnum 2
ReplyDeletekukukucinta: When I drive, I lose my patience easily. But I am patient when I don't drive. :)
ReplyDeletejkaiser: I do not bother to horn. Horn very stock, press cannot hear one. :)
Aiyah... I always practice "win later is always ok" because I'm the world most cuckoo driver. Besides, I want to reach my destination alive. It doesn't matter if I'm 5 nanoseconds late. BUT try telling that to a MAN! It's a test of "who owns the road" whenever Hubs drives. But that's genetic, so I don't bother to nag him about it...
ReplyDeleteif blue car was hub, he would definitely not give way like u did. he always said that in singapore, you gotta be aggressive when u drive (i don't agree hor especially when there's a kid in the car).
ReplyDeleteBut honestly, in ur case, the red car should be the one to give way. idiot!
Common courtesy (or lack thereof) of SG drivers aside, do you not find the design of our roads condusive to these kinds of agressive behavior?
ReplyDeletethe diva: I think the more guys drive, the more we get impatient.
ReplyDeleteangelia: I also can be aggressive. I drive 60kph and put on an aggressive face. Next time you see one on the road, then you know that's me. :)
anonymous: No need to be aggressive. Be safe can liaoz.
