Remember Wandie's SG Bloglocator, Kevin has now created a Frappr! Map for Singaporeans living in North America. It is a cool way of consolidating a list of bloggers. Those living in North America (working there, studying there or doing nothing there), can add yourselves into the map.
Wandie has expressed interest in expanding the SG Bloglocator. With the large number of Singaporean bloggers, Singapore can be a huge red dot on the map.
Click is consolidating a list of Singaporean blogs under the Singapore Weblogs Directory. There are close to 60 blogs listed.
Thanks for the mention. I've given it plenty of thought and this is actually the best way to get a count of all the bloggers in Singapore, me thinks. :D
ReplyDeleteClick: Actually self-reported data, such as inviting users to add themselves to a list (or map), is typically terrible at accounting for majority of users. There will be too many users who would not report in, i.e. too many dropouts. Instead, the best way is either through pure human labor of collecting a blogroll of SG blogs, or using persistent search mechanisms such as Google Blog Search (the tricky bit is finding the best keywords to define singapore blogs) - Kevin
ReplyDeleteMy SG mommies bloglist has more than 100 blogs, and to be honest, it's tedious to keep it growing after a while. I use blog search, blog hop (thru others' linklist), self-reporting but it requires time, effort and devotion. Sometimes, I do wish bloggers are more actively using tags in search site like technorati, but I also understand there are people who rather remain private. I'm looking into some self-sustaining method but if it doesn't work, I'll have to leave it as it is.
ReplyDeleteYa, come to think of it. That's actually quite true but it just ain't easy, what's with all the hoo-ha about their personal blogs.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm trying to consolidate the podcasts from Singapore (podcastinsg.blogspot.com). :)
