of songs of the sea was good

sentosa singapore songs+of+the+seaIf you haven't watched Songs of the Sea, do take the opportunity to watch it. It uses water jets to create giant water screens and with clever use of light and computers, images are projected onto the water screens.

Songs of the Sea is more than what we saw from the Musical Fountain. It also adds fire element and pyrotechnics to the show.

Tickets are priced at $6 (excluding entrance into Sentosa). Worth it for a 25-minute show filled with songs combined with fire, laser, light and water effects.

Being Islander members, we drove into Sentosa and parked at the Beack Car Park. Got our tickets for the first show and then took the Sentosa Express to Vivocity. Had dinner, shopped a bit and headed back to Sentosa for the show.

As usual, we had the mentality that no matter how early we are, there will be millions of people earlier than us. So we opted to arrive the gates 5 minutes before the gate are scheduled to open. True enough, queues have already begun to form. There are a total of 6 gates into the amphitheatre and when we got there, 4 of the gates were already full. We were ushered to queue up at the extreme right gate.

When the show started, the kids were glued to the show. Funniest thing is during the fire segment, we could feel the heat from the flames. lancerkid shouted "hot! hot! hot!" and he tried to blow the fire out.

I will not post videos I've taken during the show. That'll spoil the excitement. Though there are already tons of photos and videos uploaded onto the net by many people. You can search the net for sneak peaks.

Some advice:
- Weekends are packed. Tickets are always sold out. So get your tickets early.
- The amphitheatre is open-air concept. If it rains, good luck.
- The gates are opened 20 minutes before showtime. But queues have already started way way way way before. If you do not mind queuing, be there way way way way before the gates open.
- For those who want to record the show on videocam, best spot is right smack in the middle and at the back row. You cannot capture the whole stage sitting in front. The photo below shows the centre water screen. There are 2 smaller ones out of the camera view.
- If you are Islander member and intend to drive, park at the Beach Car Park. Entrance into Sentosa is $2 and parking charges is $1 per entry.
