of "sorry, are you in the queue?"

I was queuing up to buy food at a stall when this lady appeared in front of me and started looking at me like I was someone from Pluto.

Before trying to cut into the queue in front of me, she asked: "Are you in the queue?"

I was speechless for 1.5738727634 seconds before I said: "Ya."

Then she stepped back and queued up behind me.

For obvious reason, I was in the queue to buy food. There are no other reasons why I should be standing in front of a fishball noodle stall behind 4 people in the queue. Why? Do I look like I am standing there to wait for durians to drop?

I dont' think she had the intention to cut queue but there is no logic for her to ask that question. Instances like these make me wonder why I am born in Singapore.

  3. It isn't so bad, I had this whole family of idjits just walk in front of me and hailed for a cab, knowing I was waiting for one too. They even gave me the puzzled "Why are you standing behind us carrying loaded sling bag and a few plastic bags of food and trying to get a cab?" look. I was tempted to give them the finger, which I did, after the cab stopped for me and not them. Reason being : The cabby saw me raise my arm first. It does pay to have lightning quick cab hailing reflexes!

  4. Jackfrost, I had the same experience! This middle aged woman, with her elderly mother and teenage daughter, walked down the flight of steps, saw me waiting there and flagging at occupied cabs without LED tops and guess wht she did? She brought the other 2 along with her and stood in just one step in front of me in the direction of traffic flow!
If you are really in a rush, call a cab. If you asked, I would give you the cab...

Lancerlord, if it was me, I would be giving tt fella a blur look and said yes. I hate queueing just a step away behind someone and I hate the person behind queueing right behind me without giving some space. I need my "personal space" and there are some idiots who would try to squeeze into tt space n cut the queue.

  5. Sometimes i will ask that question too... At macdonalds.. cos got ppl just stand there looking at menus, dont know queuing or not.. So must ask and wont waste my time..

Sometimes even worse if they occupied 2 lines so i must ask which queue they are taking... >_<

  6. anonymous 1: It was harmless alright but the question did threw me off guard.

    anonymous 2: Ha!

jackfrost: Cab stealers can be frustrating. Some genuinely don't have the habit of looking around to see if there are other people waiting for cabs. While others are really bo chap.

jas aka paced: Have have. I gave blur blur look already. Because I genuinely was blurred for a while. kekeke....

jaschocolate: These cases really need to ask the question. But in my encounter, only single file leh. :)
