The spectacular image of Isla Sorocco in the Pacific was shot from the International Space Station travelling at 17,000 miles an hour in one of its 15 daily orbits. Its crew of three also snapped towering thunder clouds over America’s storm-ravaged Mid West region.

The astronauts are trained to make weather observations from space.

And they’re not bad with a camera, either.
