Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert To Step Down

sraeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, who helped orchestrate Israel's withdrawal from Gaza and is working towards a peace deal with both the Palestinians and Syria, announced Wednesday evening (July 30) that he won't stand for reelection in his party's Sept. 17 primary. He will step down once the party selects a new leader.
