of cop punches teen girl in face multiple times

Controversial arrest caught on police video: Sheila Stevenson and then-Millville police officer Carlo Drogo crossed paths on a cold early morning in February 2008. In the video Officer Drogo was seen accidentally peperspraying himself in the face and he then punches the girl.

It was still dark, around 6 a.m., and Stevenson was riding her bicycle on the sidewalk of North 2nd Street when Drogo, in his patrol car, pulled alongside her. What happened next is now the subject of a lawsuit in Superior Court in which Stevenson alleges Drogo beat her while she was in custody. The officer denies the charges. Drogo resigned from the police force last fall and Stevenson has since been found guilty of resisting arrest. The city of Millville released two videos recorded on cameras in police cruisers at the scene.

  1. Its really sad to see something so pointless happen to the innocent and as a young African American teen myself I feel that when a police has to act out in violence he'e only contradicting himself and is a fool how coward are they to do such things, However, MY PRESIDENT IS BLACK and people are just mad because we have overcome and its all good cuz revenge is the Lord's!!!!!!! May God bless Stevenson and her entire family

  2. This is 2009 and we're still having this type of issue. Why was it unlawful for the young lady to ride a bike on the sidewalk? If she rode it in the middle of the street would it make a difference? This cop was not a man. A man would not have punched her. We need better cops to protect our citizens. This is one reason why they are not RESPECTED.

He resigns and gets his pension, while she is found GUILTY of resisting arrest?! What is the world?! I don't understand how that's appropriate. I agree anonymous...that IS one of the MANY MANY MANY reason law enforcement is NOT respected. In my opinion they are given WAY too much power to as they please and not be held accountable. What makes it worse, is where I live, there's black on black crime...just so they can fit in with the crew. There is no way that his actions can be justified. Anything to make it seem as though this VICTIM was at fault. It's ridiculous

  5. We are in the year 2009 and this is still happening. Is there any reason to punch a lady for riding her bike? Im not saying he did it just beacause she is black because thats prob. not the case. He most likley would have done it to anyone because he was angrey because hes to stupied to spary mase the right way! He should be thrown in jail, but because hes a cop most likley they will just let him go because no one wants to see cops do grimpy things. Look at the facts, the video and how could he not be thrown in jail for assult?!!!!

this cop clearly abused his power, while it may be disputed he hit her bc she was black he definately pulled her over and attempted arrest bc she was black. therefore he was prepared to beat her for that reason. such a petty excuse to arrest this teen, appaulling to take 3 officers to do it and then punch this teen repeatedly. the arrogance and trumped up drug charges and resisting arrest is even more appaulling. he stands by his decision to beat a 15year old in the face for retalliation for what he caused. no comment from his superiors is even more appalling and this teen has a felony that will prevent her from future employment and a productive future in society. all these officers should be fired bc no one upheld justice no one told there co-worker this is not what we are hired to do and no one spoke up for what was right makes them all accomplices.

  7. I AM A WHITE WOMAN AND NOT RACIST AT ALL. I FIND RACIST PEOPLE TO BE DUMB AND NEED TO BE TREATED THE SAME WAY THEY TREAT OTHER RACES. IN THIS VIDEO, I FIND THAT THE POLICE OFFICER PULLED THIS INNOCENT GIRL OVER FOR NO REASON OTHER THEN TO HARASS HER. ALL HE HAD TO DO WAS ASK HER TO RIDE HER BIKE IN THE PROPER SPACE AND INSTEAD HAD HIS PEPPER SPRAY OUT FOR NO REASON AT ALL!!! THAT OFFICER GOT A LITTLE OF WHAT HE DESERVED BY PEPPER SPRAYING HIS OWN EYES BUT DOESN'T DESERVE TO WORK IN A POLICE DEPARTMENT EVER AGAIN! SHE WAS NOT GUILTY OF RESISTING ARREST BECAUSE HE HAD HER IN THE CUFFS WHEN HE STARTED TO BEAT HER!!!!

  8. How do we encourage our youth to be condusive to society, when the one whom is suppose to protect and serve and keep us safe, is breaking every law he is clearly arresting others for. Regardless of ethnicity, this girl was 15 yrs. old, and a girl whom is someday gonna become a woman. If he is trully this angry and combative on the force, it makes me wonder about his disruptiveness in his private life. This young lady has already suffered blunt forced punches to her head, and it wasn't even by someone she chose to date, it was by who (a cop), violence isn't just a sudden pattern, its a repeated pattern. He's trully more of a threat and a harm to society, since his job is to serve society, than any other criminal I know. How does one justify these actions? The camera doesn't lie. I believe that this isn't a human error, this is what he believes and lives--violence. What gets me is how do they even add in, at the end of the video--that she has a warrant for drug charges? Is this suppose to make what happened go away? This is America and to allow something so negative to disrupt a whole county/police department is an abomination to this whole entire world. Justice must prevail, and this officer should face massive criminal charges for every law he broke and the oaths he took to ensure public safety. My God, hasn't this child been through enough and now they want her to go back to the same police department that beat her, she has to be in so much fear. I will never believe she had drugs on her, how did they come up with this? I do believe this isn't the first time he has acted with these kind of actions regardless of what those that defend him may say. America stand up for this 15 year old; because this could have been your son or daughter.
