Sezairi Sezali beat hot favourite Sylvia Ratonel to be named the winner of Singapore Idol on Sunday.
"I don't know that to think right now. You have made my dream come true," said a shocked Sezairi.
The 22-year-old, who is waiting to enlist for National Service, dashed audiences' hopes of crowning a female Singapore idol. Taufik Batisah won the singing competition in 2004 and Hady Mirza took the title in 2006.
Along with the title and bragging rights, Sezairi wins a recording contract with Universal Music.
Though Sezairi's laid-back performances did not make much of an impression throughout the third season of the singing competition, he was determined not to go down without a fight.
Sezairi who performed Jamiroquai's "Virtual Insanity", "Crazy" by Aerosmith and "Touched By An Angel", a song penned by Idol judge Ken Lim for this year's winner, sang his way into the hearts of audiences at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

I am glad that Sezairi won the title. I am not in favor with that foreigner. She should be contesting in Manila not here.

ReplyDeleteSezairi won because he was more popular, they were both equally good singers and they put up quite a good show (it really didn't feel like a competition, it was like a Sylvia-Sezairi concert)

ReplyDeleteIf you do watch the re-telecast you will note that the boy is better and the judges are too bias and backfire. Howcan they say things like" I prefer Tabitha" "The song is written with her in mind" Come on this is idols and public voting rites!!!
Glad that a filipino do not win and the judges should be send to tasks as only Flo was neutral. How can they judge an original song that was unheard and compare.
Also Tabitha sucks and must be some rigging else how did she get into top 3??? Should have been Faizal been in Top 3.
