The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has released photos of the third rail and collector shoes


Photographs show the MRT train 'collector shoes'. The one on the left shows one in good condition. The one on the right (forgot to remove mouse cursor) was damaged in Thursday's breakdown.

The shoes are metal contact blocks that glide below a third rail to pick up electrical power to keep the train moving.
