of mrt down again....for the third time

MRT Train services were disrupted again this morning. This time between Ang Mo Kio and Marina Bay stations. This is the third service breakdown this week for Singapore Mass Rapid Transit (SMRT).



SMRT attributed the failure "to damage to the third rail and train collector shoes". This problem was similar to the Dec 15 disruption. In its statement (SERVICE DISRUPTION ON NORTH-SOUTH LINE ON 17 DEC 2011) SMRT reports

On 17 December 2011 at 6.50am, train service on the North-South Line between Orchard and Marina Bay stations was disrupted near Orchard station. One train stalled between Orchard and Somerset stations at around 6.50am.....Preliminary investigations show that the cause of the disruption is similar to the problem on 15 December, where there was damage to the third rail and train collector shoes.

The following stations were affected between Newton and Marina Bay stations, from Toa Payoh to Marina Bay stations, between Ang Mo Kio and Marina Bay stations
