Minister for Transport Lui Tuck Yew revealed that Singapore's sixth rail network, the Thomson Line (TSL), will open from 2019.
Opening in three phases, the 30 km long rail line will have 22 stations, with six interchange stations linking to all existing lines and the future Downtown Line (DTL).
The 6 interchange stations are: will Caldecott Station (connects to the Circle Line), Stevens Station (Downtown Line), Woodlands Station (North-South Line), Orchard Station (North-South Line), Outram Station (East-West Line and North-East Line) and Marina Bay Station (Circle Line and North-South Line).
The 3 phases are: Phase One in 2019 (three stations from Woodlands North to Woodlands South), Phase Two in 2020 (from Springleaf to Caldecott) and final stretch in 2021 (13 stations from Mount Pleasant to Gardens by the Bay).
The government will acquire 4 land plots: Pearl's Centre in Eu Tong Sen Street, a post office along Upper Thomson Road and two landed properties along Stevens Road and Robin Close.
