Stephen Colbert has unexpectedly suspended production of The Colbert Report. Huffington Post has cited that the cause of the suspension is because the host's mother, Lorna, is seriously ill.

Stewart, Colbert: 'Rally To Restore Sanity' vs. 'March To Keep Fear Alive': On 30 Oct, John Stewart's "Rally To Restore Sanity" will meet Stephen Colbert's "March To Keep Fear Alive".
Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert will march together on Washington. Or against each other in Washington. Either way, expect plenty of Comedy Central fans to show up on October 30 when Stewart's "Rally To Restore Sanity" will meet Colbert's "March To Keep Fear Alive" in the nation's capital.

The duo have been hinting at a major announcement for several episodes in a mock response to Glenn Beck's own "Restoring Honor" rally that was held this year on the anniversary of a famous Martin Luther King speech at the same monument. There's no indication that the announced get-together is a joke, though. Both comedians are telling their audiences to book hotel rooms now (though for different reasons, as you'll see).

"It'll be like being in a chat room," Stewart explained. "But real."

Stewart punctuated his announcement on the earlier program with a homemade-looking banner reading, "Take It Down A Notch For America."

Colbert followed up with an announcement on his own show, and insisted that he would "notch it up a scotch."

Each man ventured into the other's studios for moments you'll just have to see for yourself ...

Colbert wins space station name contest: NASA's online contest to name a new room at the international space station went awry. Comedian Stephen Colbert won.
The name "Colbert" beat out NASA's four suggested options in the space agency's effort to have the public help name the addition. The new room will be launched later this year. NASA's mistake was allowing write-ins. Colbert urged viewers of his Comedy Central show, "The Colbert Report" to write in his name. And they complied, with 230,539 votes. That clobbered Serenity, one of the NASA choices, by more than 40,000 votes. Nearly 1.2 million votes were cast by the time the contest ended Friday.

colbert branson trainwreckStephen Colbert's Trainwreck Interview with Richard Branson: This is the video that shows the water-throwing incident between Stephen Colbert and Richard Branson, the "rebel billionaire" as Stephen Colbert repeatedly called him.

Indeed Richard Branson was a wee bit unhappy that his Virgin America was not mentioned (or wasn't "plugged" as he put it) as much as he wanted to. And he was the first to launch the first salvo.

What I see is 2 sporting gentlemen making fun of each other. No serious harm done. -

Click these links for the video hosted at Milk and Cookies and Daily Motion.
Alternatively, DOG RAT has a video that only shows the water throwing portion of the interview.

Colbert Branson WaterWhat really happened during the Stephen Colbert and Richard Branson interview?

In case you are not aware of the Colbert-Branson saga, Richard Branson was invited as an undisclosed guest at The Colbert Report. He was on the show to talk about Virgin America and one of the planes called "Air Colbert" which was named after Colbert. Branson was not happy that he did not have enough time to say what he wanted to say about promoting Virgin America and poured a cup of water on Colbert. Colbert got some water and threw it back on Branson. Well no one knows if this was planned or it was unexpected.

The interview was filmed on the 7th. On the 8th, Stephen Colbert was to attend the christening ceremony of Air Colbert. However, Stephen Colbert could not make it as he was stuck in traffic for 4 1/2 hours and skipped the event.

Apparently there was a video of the water throwing episode on YouTube as mentioned at Boing Boing. But YouTube pulled it off.

Also read the post by Ian Bogost who was also a guest on the same show. There is even a photo (first photo in the post) showing the crushed mineral water bottle in the background.

Someone who attended the filming of the show also gave an account and it is blogged here. -

Update: The water throwing incident will air on 22nd August during the "Colbert Report".

Watch the video here where Stephen Colbert mentions that the segment will be aired.
