Sen. Barack Obama has chosen Delaware Sen. Joe Biden as his running mate on the Democratic ticket in the race for the White House, according Obama's Web site. The new teammates are expected to make their first public appearance together at a rally planned at the Old State Capitol in Springfield. Biden, 65, has been a fixture in the Senate since 1973 when Obama was 11 years old. He is the chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee and would bring considerable foreign policy heft to the ticket at a time when Republicans increasingly are focusing on Obama's lack of experience in that arena.
