of singapore couple want to 'book' police officers for illegal parking, but kena booked instead

No parking here for even lawmen?: A Singaporean couple Mr Ong Eng Chowg and his wife, Marilyn, spotted a police car parked at a "No Parking" area. They parked their car and approached the police officers to remove the police car.

Instead the couple got booked for illegal parking because they parked their car behind the police car.
Mr Ong said that one of the cops, a staff sergeant, explained that he had parked his vehicle in the lane to attend to a sleeping drunk in the coffee shop in Block 232. The officer also pointed out that the no-parking sign at the shelter had an additional note that read: 'except police, ambulance and authorised vehicles', so it was legal for the police to park in the lane. They then booked Mr Ong for illegally parking his car behind the police car. This angered the couple. Mr Ong said he then told the staff sergeant 'in a raised but controlled voice' that he was 'doing his civic duty', so he shouldn't 'pull rank' with him.

What is the meaning of 'in a raised but controlled voice'?

  1. got to say that based on the way the story was written up, it sounds like the couple really asked for it. But then again, the story originated from asiaone - not quite the beacon of credibility.

  4. 2 mths back, I took a photo of a police car in the drive-thru queue of AMK Mac.

The policemen was very unhappy and a junior police was sent to confront me saying his senior officer want to speak to me (basically trying to pull-rank).

I told him, if the officer is not happy, he can walk walk here and talk to me. I asked him, "Is it illegal to take a photo of a police car?". I also question him if he & his officer is on official duty?

I confronted him that if they are on official duty, why are they buying food? If they are off duty, why are they using official vehicle to buy food?

He said he is buying for his friends in the police station. I question him, "With Mac delivery, why do they need to drive an official police vehicle to buy food?"

He couldn't answer, hide his tail and walk back to his vehicle.

Question 1: Should policemen waste official petrol to buy food when they could easily call for delivery or walk to make their purchases?

Question 2: Should policemen waste official working hours to queue and buy food when they could easily call for delivery?

  5. refer to kevin post, i think it is alrite for the officer to drive the vehicle and buy the food. cos from my pt of view, these might be the few reason:

1)they eat in the car and any cases they need to attend, they will immediately proceed to that places, meaning even during their meal time, they are also on duty.

2)as for ur mac delicery, i think that abit no sense... do u mean officer can eat mac? lol... or only fast food? as for the delivery charges, who going to pay for it? if is govt, ppl will have complaint again.... if officer pay for themselves, that addiotional $2 i think if i drive the car to near by coffee shop to buy meal while on my way back to station, that even more worth it.

3)if is during their meal time, why cant they queue and buy food?

As for that couple that ganna summom, all i can say is " U DESERVE IT".... u stop ur vehicle just to take photo of police vehicle... ur intention is post on net and make story abt it. now become u are the target that we laughed at.lol.... the officer done no wrong, cos he even pt out the sign board(he checked b4 he park his police car)

we are all human la... why some ppl just cannot take in Police officer or govt officer? in time when u need help, why they are alway the 1st u think of? this not taking stone hitting ur own leg? Think twice b4 u act

  6. Kevin's comment is a bit ridiculous. You mean police officers are not allowed to have lunch time? Break time? Having their lunch means they are bad police officers? Having a Big Mac in his hands means he will refuse to drop his lunch and chase a thief if he sees one? Pls lar.. be a bit more understanding of your civil servants and don't expect what you are not yourselves prepared to give. They serve at odd hours, for long shifts, and they are not even allowed to have lunch? You're crazy.

  7. Sometimes I wonder why people are so critical of our police force. Where they park is none of our business as long as it doesn't obstruct the traffic. Buy Macdonald also must get photographed. If people keep finding fault with them, why not these people go and become the police themselves?

Please la, give them a break man...they are just making a living.

the police officers work 12-14 hours every shift to protect the nation, they buy food you also not happy. they are prolly just petrolling and happen to pass by mac lor, u think can indent vehicle just to buy food one meh?

    childish behaviour
