The Ministerial Salary Review Committee has recommended cuts in ministers' salary. The committee chairman, Gerard Ee, spoke at a news conference held today.
The proposed pay formula is based on the median salary of the top 1,000 earners with a 40 per cent discount. The annual pay are as follows:
The president: S$1.54 million (51 percent pay cut)
The Speaker of Parliament: S$550,000 (53 percent pay cut)
The prime minister: S$2.2 million (36 percent pay cut)
Ministers: S$1.1 million (37 percent pay cut)
Junior minister: S$935,000
The Annual Variable Component (AVC) for ministers will range from zero to 1.5 months, a performance bonus of up to six months and a National Bonus of up to six months.
