An 86-year-old man has died of dengue fever, making him the third fatality from the mosquito-borne disease this year.
The Ministry of Health and the National Environment Agency said in a statement that the person had turned up at the hospital's emergency department on Saturday with fever, and was found to suffer from low blood pressure. He was subsequently admitted and diagnosed with dengue shock syndrome, a dangerous condition where the body's organs start to shut down.
