Malaysia has shelved plans for a bullet train linking Kuala Lumpur to Singapore because of the cost, a top planning official said on Tuesday. The 8 billion ringgit (US$2.5 billion) project, proposed by Malaysian infrastructure and utilities group YTL Corp in 2006, aimed to cut travel time between the two cities to 90 minutes from seven-and-a-half hours presently.Damn it'll be good to have this bullet train. Cutting travelling time from 7.5 hrs to 1.5 hrs saves a lot of time.

Malaysia drops KL-Singapore bullet train project: Malaysia says no to train service between Malaysia and Singapore citing high cost.
i was really hoping this would have gone through.
ReplyDeletethe economic wonders it can bring! singaporeans can do a day shop in kl and vice versa!
or go up for a concert in dewan filharmonik... or malaysians coming down to watch the local dramas!
and for the bizmen, they could go up to kl for a mtg and be back in a day (in a half day!)
this is the 2nd time it is shelved. hope it's 3rd time lucky :)
quachee: ya man. makan and shopping to and fro will be a breeze.
