The Star Challenge 2008: The Star Challenge, organised by the Agency for Science, Technology and Research, is a race to build the next generation of multimedia search engines. [photo link]Aimed at introducing the world to Fusionopolis and generating publicity for it, "The Star Challenge 2008" is open to teams and individuals from anywhere in the world. In line with the tradition of Grand Challenges, The Star Challenge 2008 provides a prize for reaching defined goal, and aspires to advance the state-of-the-art in the ICM (specifically search) domain.The winning prize is US$100,000. The competition will be scheduled as follows:-
Phase 1 (Registration) - 3 January 2008 to 29 February 2008
Phase 2 (Preliminary Round) – 1 March 2008 to 23 August 2008
Phase 3 (Grand Final) - Will be held over a period of half a day during the week of the opening of Fusionopolis in October 2008 (Participants will be notified of the exact date).
