Monica Lim talks about the 'O' level results.

When the 'O' level results were released this year, there was some hoo-ha when the Middle Ground reported that only 1 out of 10 students in RI's pioneer 'O' level class scored well enough to make it to JC. Many people were in shock, including the students, it would seem - RI? How could this have happened?

Bharati Jagdish interviews Roger Koh, the owner of what many have called the “overpriced fried rice place”, Chen Fu Ji (陈福记).

Singapore a 'Third World' F&B market: Chen Fu Ji owner

Koh: Learning to accept talent instead of finding the talent you want. Accept people for what they are and make use of whatever they're good at, instead of keep looking for a better person. We always complain that there's not enough talent in the market.

In reality, a good team is like the characters in Journey to the West. You have got the lazy pig, you have got the naughty monkey, you've got an operator who will ask about the working hours. I work 9 to 5, and don't ask me about my dreams. That kind of team is a real team, rather than getting all the best people under your wing before you go forward. That’s harder to achieve and, if you wait for that, you may never move forward.

It is not necessary to be in the business of something you love. You need to be in the business of something that you can win. You have to look into the industry that you want to go into, and the kind of businesses and the competition.

It's better to be in a blue ocean than to be in a red ocean. Blue means less competition. I love innovation and creativity, but you should be cautious, because it's easy to fall in love with the things you want to do. Sometimes they don't make business sense. So you need to be very business-minded.

It’s called a business. It's not merely an interest. Sometimes interest and business are two separate things. My advice to budding entrepreneurs is do something where you can make money, rather than do something that you're only interested in, because there may not be a market and you’ll just go out of business.

Tan Tock Seng Hospital @TTSH claims that Eds Ello's Facebook account was hacked. #ttsh #singapore #philippines

PINOY WHO INSULTED SINGAPOREANS ONLINE TURNS OUT TO BE A RADIOGRAPHER AT TTSH

Filipino working in Singapore, Edz Ello, has stirred a lot of hate online ever since he posted hateful comments against Singaporeans. However, what is more shocking than Edz’s original comments is the action that his employer, Tan Tock Seng Hospital, has taken in response to the public backlash. It was revealed that Edz was a staff member at TTSH and many netizens wrote to them about the hateful and rude comments that Edz had made online. However, almost instantly, TTSH updated its official Facebook page with a notice that Mr Ello’s Facebook had actually been hacked and so it was not him who made those hateful comments.

Drone takes aerial view of #altez #singapore #condominium at 250m.

Epic aerial view at 250m taken with a drone, from the Altez over Singapore's Tanjong Pagar area.

[GVGT] Wah! Drone can fly so high in SG? what if spoil and drop kill someone...?

Aerial Drone Footage Over Singapore, Altez

Rise of the drones

Drones might also pose a risk to aircraft that are landing or taking off - which is why flying model aircraft is banned within 5km of an airport or airbase, said a spokesman for the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS). This includes areas such as Pasir Ris,Tampines, Ang Mo Kio, Woodlands and Boon Lay. Outside the 5km limit, model aircraft, including drones, cannot fly above 61m. To fly within the 5km limit or above 61m, permission from CAAS is needed. Photo-taking in the air or flying any unmanned aircraft that weighs more than 7kg requires authorisation as well. Even then, unmanned aircraft operators are expected to take precautions to ensure their craft do not pose a hazard to aircraft, people or property, the CAAS spokesman said. Those who flout the rules can be fined up to $20,000. Repeat offenders can be fined up to $40,000, jailed for up to 15 months, or both.

Noor Mastura (http://fyndingnoor.wordpress.com) writes a letter addressed to the churches of Singapore.

I write this letter as a Singaporean Muslim.

I address this letter to the believers of this church, the priest and pastors, our interfaith workers, and all people who commemorate the birth of Jesus, Peace and Blessings be upon him, & Lady Mary, the purest woman of this world and most eminent in the next world.

Recent events such as the evil ISIS torturing our Christian brethren in Mosul and the very recent shootings and unfortunate incident of innocents being held hostage in Sydney – all of which claiming to be done under the name of Islam has caused great upset, anger and hate for the rest of the world.
