A Singapore flag was burnt by demonstrators in the Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) on 13 May 2014.

Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement released on 15 May that it considers this a “serious incident” as the flag is a sacred symbol which should be “treated with respect”.

The Singapore embassy in Hanoi has conveyed Singapore’s “strong concerns” over the flag burning to the Vietnamese government.

The gunman was identified as Jiverly Voong, 41, of Vietnamese origin. Tech Banyan posted a photo of Jiverly Voong (Jiverly Wong).

The gunman was identified by some police sources as Jiverly Voong. According to Binghamton Police Chief Joe Zikuski, the gunman entered the one-story American Civic Association in downtown Binghamton at 10:31 a.m. today and began his shooting spree. By 10:33 a.m., the shooting was over and 14 people -- including the gunman -- lay dead, the chief said.

U.S. Rep. Maurice Hinchey, a Democrat whose district includes Binghamton, initially told the Associated Press Voong was recently laid off from IBM in Johnson City -- but sources later told ABC News that it appeared that the Voong who worked at IBM was Henry Voong, "an older gentleman" who was believed to be the suspect's father, and that he had not been laid off.

2 S'poreans shot: 2 Singaporeans were shot by a Vietnamese gunman in Copenhagen.

Danish police is searching for the alleged gunman that shot two Singaporeans in a restaurant in Copenhagen.
ONE of the two Singaporean men shot in a restaurant in Copenhagen on Monday night had arrived in the Danish city only two days ago to attend a friend's birthday party. The 55-year-old unnamed man was hit in the chest by a Vietnamese man at point blank and is now in a coma and supported by respirator, according to Danish media reports. The other victim, a former Singaporean who is now a Danish citizen, has been identified as Mr Roland Tan, 61, and is believed to be the owner of Restaurant Bali on Kongens Nytorv Square where the shooting took place at about 7 pm on Monday. Mr Tan, described by Danish tabloid Ekstra Bladet as 'the most powerful Chinese businessman in Denmark,' was shot in the shoulder. Both men are warded at the Rigshospitalet, guarded round-the-clock by Danish police. Even their family members were not allowed to visit them. Eyewitnesses said the assailant, named by Danish police as Nguyen Phi Hung, 47, walked into Restaurant Bali and shot the two men at point blank. He then fled. Danish police believed the shooting was an assassination attempt on Mr Tan, who is said to have connections with organised crime groups.

Stolen garden elf is returned after a 7-month adventure around the world : Eve and Derrick Stuart-Kelso lost a 10-inch high stone leprechaun which they placed outside their home in Gloucester. 11 months after disappearing, the gnome appeared on the Stuart-Kelso's doorstep last week. Next to the gnome was a photo album containing 48 pictures of the gnome's trip around the globe to places like Singapore, Thailand, South Africa, New Zealand.

On top of the world: The gnome takes a cable car ride in Singapore
The 8lb gnome appeared on the Stuart-Kelso's doorstep on Thursday last week, some 11 months after disappearing.

A little the worse for wear, the traveller was standing next to a mysterious and tightly-wrapped parcel.

Once unwrapped it revealed a leather-bound photo album containing 48 pictures of the gnome's trip around the globe along with a note putting his impromptu world tour down to 'itchy feet'.

The painstakingly compiled album, complete with index, showed their gnome - renamed Barrington by his travel companions - abseiling down a mountain, standing in a shark's mouth, swimming in the sea, and riding a motorbike. Also with him were immigration stamps for all the shores he had been taken to visit - South Africa, Swaziland, Mozambique, New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, China, Hong Kong and Laos.

A witty note, purporting to be from Barrington, referred to his 'travelling companion' only as The Bear, and told the couple how he attracted unwanted attention from customs officials and took up 25 per cent of the party's luggage allocation.

The only clue, however, to the identity of those companions was a photograph of a group of grinning young men.

Stunned: Grandmother Eve Stuart-Kelso found her gnome on her doorstep, with a letter and photo album of his travels

The letter reads:
Hello! First of all I feel I should explain my prolonged absence. A gnome's life is full of time for reflection, and whilst surveying your garden one summer morning, I began to get itchy feet.

I came to the conclusion that the world is a big place and there is more to life than watching the daily commuter traffic, and allowing passing cats to urinate on you.

So I decided to free myself from the doldrums of the Shire and seek adventure. My travels have taken me across three continents, 12 countries and more time zones than I can possibly remember.

A case of jealousy landed a 22-year-old Malaysian prostitute behind bars in London for at least 15 years for the murder of a graduate.

Noor Azura Mohd Yusoff was on Friday convicted by the Old Bailey of killing Xie Xing Xing, 23, who was decapitated while alive and her body dumped in the River Thames in April last year.

Her boyfriend Trach Lon Gian, 27, of London, was also convicted of the murder and jailed a minimum of 22 years.

The court was told that Noor Azura was jealous of Xie and had sent a text message threatening to kill her just days before her death.

In March, Noor Azura returned to her home in New Cross, London, and found Xie taking part in pornography and a cocaine party.

Xie's corpse was found two weeks later in the South Dock Marina in Bermondsey.

Seven weeks later her head was found nearby wrapped in plastic.

Villagers in Kampot said Tuesday that they had heard a loud explosion. Wednesday they told Reuters they had found small chunks of metal near the coastline.

What does Mr. Lee Kuan Yew advise Vietnam to do?: This is an article from the Vietnamese online newspaper, VietNamNet Bridge. It is an interview with Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew by a Vietnamese journalist.
On January 19, 2007, I had a chance to talk with the famous Singaporean diplomat at a dinner organised by the HCM City People’s Council. His frank manner immediately caught my attention...Sitting down at the table, the former Singaporean Premier and current Minister Mentor, took up a bottle of Da Lat champagne and asked about the market price of such a bottle, the different kinds of exported wine in Vietnam and their prices, Vietnam’s major wine exporters, as well as wine tariffs.

I'll just extract MM's name that was used in the entire article,
...Yew said in a low voice...And Mr. Yew started to talk about Singapore’s secrets...When one reads what Mr. Lee Kwan Yew advised...According to Mr. Yew...In Mr. Yew’s opinion...

Who is Yew huh?
