Speculation about the next iPhone -- presumably called the iPhone 5S -- have been mounting over the last few months, and now, a launch date may be at hand. According to technology website All Things D, Apple will hold a special event September 10 to announce the next version of the iPhone and more details about iOS 7, the next version of the iPhone and iPad operating system.

Chinese electronics manufacturer Huawei billed its new Ascend P6 model as the "world's slimmest smartphone".
The Huawei Ascend P6 is 6.18 mm in depth, which is thinner than competitors like the iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S4 (7.6 mm and 7.9 mm, respectively). This new model is now the flagship smartphone in Huawei's Ascend P series. Earlier this year, Huawei launched its Ascend P2 phone, which at the time the company called the "world's fastest smartphone."
The new Ascend P6 features a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, a 4.7-inch HD display, a 8-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front-facing camera and runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, according to Huawei. The phone also boasts "Magic Touch" technology that lets users use the touchscreen even with gloves on.

The Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) has started to gather feedback for a regulatory framework on TV White Spaces (TVWS), also known as super Wi-Fi. This is a step toward reallocating unused TV frequency channels for wireless broadband and communications.
Radio frequencies in the TVWS spectrum bands, typically in the 700-megahertz spectrum band, allows wide area outdoor wireless coverage, better building penetration and potential for high-speed connectivity.
There are already three projects rolled out by the Singapore White Spaces Pilot Group (SWSPG) which involved National University of Singapore (NUS), Singapore Island Country Club (SICC) and Wi-Fi access for vessels near shore. The new commercial pilots include: Gardens by the Bay, Sentosa, Housing & Development Board (HDB) and Eurokars Group.

Solar Impulse, a solar-powered plane, nearing the close of a cross-continental journey landed at Dulles International Airport, only one short leg to New York remaining on a voyage that opened in May.
It's the first bid by a solar plane capable of being airborne day and night without fuel to fly across the U.S, at speeds reaching about 40 mph. The plane opened by flying from San Francisco via Arizona, Texas, Missouri and Ohio onward to Dulles with stops of several days in cities along the way.
The plane, considered the world's most advanced sun-powered aircraft, is powered by about 12,000 photovoltaic cells that cover its enormous wings and charge its batteries during the day. The single-seat Solar Impulse flies around 40 mph and can't go through clouds; weighing about as much as a car, the aircraft also took longer than a car to complete the journey from Ohio to the East Coast.

Apple revealed the next version of its mobile software iOS 7, and it's the makeover of makeovers. Think a "Pretty Woman"-size makeover. Apple CEO Tim Cook even said, "This is the biggest change to iOS since the introduction of the iPhone."

The new Mac Pro has a sleek and black cylindrical casing – a bombshell in terms of both design and computing power.
"Can't innovate any more, my ass" was the comment from senior vice president of worldwide marketing Phil Schiller as he unveiled the new computer.
Sporting a 12-core, 256-bit Intel Xeon E5 processor that is up to twice as fast as the previous model, the new Mac Pro also comes with four-channel DDR3 memory running at 1866MHz and delivering up to 60GB/s memory bandwith – again, twice as fast as its predecessor.
These specifications mean the new Pro will be perfect for 3D modellers, film-makers and designers in general – any profession which taxes graphical processing power will be safely coddled by the twin AMD FirePro (a GPU with each carrying up to 6GB of dedicated VRAM) and the Pro's capacity to render full-resolution 4K video (4K is a resolution of around 4096x2169 – compared to the 1920x1080 of HD).
It also comes with six Thunderbolt 2 ports and four USB ports, a Gigabit Ethernet and a HDMI out.
The Pro will also use next-generation PCle Flash Storage

A team of computer engineers from Vanderbilt University, led by Akos Ledeczi, has developed hardware and software to turn an Android smartphone into a sniper finder. It’s a similar idea to the ShotSpotter, a system used in Seattle to track locations of shooting incidents. There are two versions of the system. One uses a single microphone per module, but requires at least six separate phones to accurately calculate the location of the shooter. The second setup has four microphones in each (slightly larger) sensor module, but needs only two separate phones to locate the sniper.

Samsung posted a picture on its official Twitter account which suggested that the Galaxy S4 release event will be live streamed from the Times Square on March 14 at 7 PM. Samsung fans all around the globe will also be able to watch Samsung Unpacked event live online through the official YouTube channel here.

The recently rumored, larger-screened “iPhone Math”, or more likely “iPhone Plus”, is plausible as an additional model (not a replacement) alongside the 4” iPhone. And there’s a good chance that it would have a 4.94”, 16:9 screen.
