Anton Casey, the British fund manager who mocked the 'poor people' of Singapore on Facebook, has been sacked and forced to flee the country for Australia.
Casey, 39, took a Singapore Airlines flight to Perth on Friday but not before first apologising for the biggest mistake in his life and offering to do ''community service''.

The angry reaction to his Facebook insults had left his situation and that of his former Miss Singapore wife, Bernice Wong, and son in the island state untenable.

Casey who worked for a small financial company called CrossInvest, and who occasionally appeared on local television as a financial pundit, had displayed, claimed angry Singaporeans, 'intolerable arrogance'. CrossInvest said in a statement: "[Casey's] comments go against our core corporate and family values that are based on trust, mutual understanding and are respectful of diversity.

"Accordingly, CrossInvest Asia and Mr Casey have parted ways with immediate effect."

Ian Poh films this video of an Australian offering an Indian kid to try his wakeboard in the MRT train. The video has gone viral.

This aussie dude reminds us that we all have the power to make someone's day, even if it's a complete stranger. I remember seeing him lug his surf load into the train, obviously tired from a day out at sea. Then comes along this indian kid who couldn't contain his curiosity over the 'giant skateboard'. Upon noticing that, he whipped out the board and placed it nicely on the ground and invited the kid to ride.

At the summit, Ms Gillard issued a short statement,
My father, John Gillard, passed away this morning in Adelaide. He has battled illness in recent years but his death is a shock for me and my family. Dad lived a long and full life...He taught me to be passionate about fairness. He taught me to believe in Labor and in trade unionism. But above all, he taught me to love learning and to understand its power to change lives. He always regretted his family background meant he had not proceeded on to higher education as a young man. He was determined that I had the opportunities he was denied. I will miss him for the rest of my life''.

Incorrect medals were awarded during the Paralympics women's discus event F35/36. The final standings are: Wu Qing, initially given Silver, took Gold. Maria Pomazan, initially given Gold, took Silver. Bao Jiongyu, initially given Bronze, was dropped to fourth position. Australia's Katherine Proudfoot, initially given fifth place, was upgraded to third.

Incorrect: Wu Qing, Maria Pomazan and Bao Jiongyu pose with their medals.
In today's women's combined class discus event (F35/36) incorrect medals were awarded following the use of inaccurate results data. We sincerely apologise to the athletes affected. The inaccurate data also affected the men's shot put F42/44, although the final medal placing was not impacted. Omega is currently uploading the correct data and the final results for the women's discus F35/36 event will be amended and restated. All combined class field events use the Raza System - a points scoring system where final positions are determined by points rather than distance.
A new medal ceremony will be held during tomorrow morning's athletics session.

Xiaxue swept two awards (Region's Best Blog and Most Influential Blog) at the Nuffnang Asia Pacific Blog Awards 2011 held last week.

Australian blogger Melissa444 has issues and posted them on her blog (The Things I'd Tell You).
Nuffnang, is this really the kind of blog you want to promote as the best Nuffnang blog? The best blog the Asia Pacific has to offer? Fair enough if you want some of the votes to be reader based, popularity votes. But calling that blog the 'best' blog in the Asia Pacific is mortifying to other blogs. To think that a person like this should be awarded for her blog is akin to giving Paris Hilton an Oscar for her acting skills. It's absurd. And demoralising to think that this is the kind of thing you're drawn to.....So clearly Nuffnang and other promoters, and tens of thousands of readers have no issue with following and supporting the blog of someone who uses consistently foul and racist language on her blog. After all - she's the 'best'.
Read more of what Melissa444 blogged (Oh Come ON!!!!)

Xiaxue responded to Melissa's comments in her blog. Read So many angry Australians

Melissa wrote another post to clear some air.
My issue was with "Best Regional Blog". It intimated to me that Nuffnang were saying that this meant that Xiaxue's blog was literally 'the best blog in the Asia-Pacific Region'. That surprised me, as there is very little strong content, and in her own words, is not meant to be taken seriously. When I hear "best" (for example "Best Actor", "Best Movie", "Best Actress", I assume that that means it has been judged to be best. By an unbiased panel of judges. As such, I was surprised (and disappointed that a blog like like this could be chosen) with the result.

But it's ok. Nuffnang has already cleared that up.....
